Description
Mr Potter is a true man of Suffolk, complete with authentic Suffolk accent. He talks about his working life as a gardener in a big Suffolk garden where he started work in the summer of 1913 and remained working there until 1963. Working under two successive owners he thought he would continue to work in the garden at Glebe House forever but owner number three did not come up to his expectations, as you will hear!
Bryan Thurlow has a background in professional theatre. During the 1970’s and ’80s his music hall act, The Berkeley Squares, toured its colourful shows to many parts of the country. He has been involved in lots of TV productions and played the lead role in a BBC drama, The Nicest Parson We Never Had. He was a regular holidaymaker in Hi De Hi and spent a year on tour co-presenting shows with Noel Edmunds.
Bryan was a founder member of Quayhole Theatre Company that took educational theatre to schools across East Anglia during the late ’80s and 90s. He then became a drama teacher at West Suffolk College. In 2014 he was invited to contribute some songs in a radio programme with Roy Hudd on the history of music hall.
In recent years his entertaining talks and performance pieces have been enjoyed by audiences all over East Anglia. He has recently added The Burston School Strike and Maria Marten and the Red Barn to his repertoire.
